On this KangaROOS collabo, Tornschuhjette and Kwills have joined forces to work on the Ultralite OG. Inspired by the port of Hamburg with its cargo ships and containers. The color scheme of the shoe is derived from one of the cargo ships that can be seen in the harbor. The vintage '90s basketball feel with solid color blocks and materials (suede, mesh, chenille) was important to honor the model's heritage. The insoles depict a diptych of containers and feature double branding. This is also reflected on the two extra pairs of laces. An NYK Line freighter provided the basis for the detailed colorway, as the dark blue canvas tongue and chenille ROOS stripe pay tribute to the naval-military jerseys worn in port. The Ultralite was Kwills and Tornschuhjette's first choice because they grew up wearing basketball shoes that were also perfect for skateboarding. In addition to the reference to the freighter, the color scheme and materials are a nod to the color blocking and models of basketball and skateboard shoes from the 90s.
