Beaten Heat!

Beaten Heat!

SneakerBAAS once again had the privilege of being at Lowlands! We were able to spot an extreme amount of heat between the great shows of A$AP Rocky, Anderson Paak and more. Even during the festival you rock the thickest sneakers! See all "BEATED HEAT" from Lowlands '19 below:

OFF-White has not only brought a lot of change to sneaker culture, but also managed to shift the entire fashion industry in a different direction.

With the release of "The Ten" collection, Virgil Abloh ensured that not only sneakerheads went camping, but also that all fashion heads were willing to pay more than double for a sneaker on the resale market.

Kanye West aka Ye has been on top of the sneaker game for years. He is far from finished with his YEEZY line at adidas Originals. "The Fashion God" always knows how to use new shades on his modern/futuristic sneakers, so that they remain in one line but are still all unique. Would you wear a fresh pair of YEEZY's to LowLands?

The DAD-Shoe trend has been going on for a while now, but it shows no signs of stopping. The brand that became big with the DAD shoes; New Balance. New Balance brought back the 990 OG this past year. The DAD shoe of DAD shoes in our eyes! What do you think of this trend?

Every year we are amazed by what we encounter at LowLands. This pair has already been through a lot because this is the first re-release of the Nike Air Max Light "Teal" and dates from 2007. The fact that this pair is still walking around in the wild in this condition and then at a festival shows that the Netherlands is a is really Air Max country.

Not only New Balance has been able to continue the DAD trend for 2 years, Nike dropped the Nike Air Monarch again last year without announcement. The cheapest, clumsiest and most fashionable DAD sneaker around. With its low price and mega striking bulky shape, a true DAD shoe classic for everyone.

The Dutch are not only Air Max enthusiasts, we are also the makers of the Air Max HYPE! The Netherlands has contributed to the success of several Air Max 1s so far. Dutch local Piet Parra is our pride and legendary illustrator. It started with the Nike Air Max 1 "Albert Heijn" that Piet Parra designed for Nike but was never released. After which a list of collaborations was created. Last year, Piet Parra managed to shake up the sneaker game again with his latest Air Max/Spiridon collaboration with Nike.

Every year we celebrate PRIDE month with the world. An important moment to show the world that everyone is welcome and everyone can be who they want to be. Nike releases a special collection every year especially for this month. Last year it contained a Nike Air Max 90 with a rock-solid multipy swoosh design. A must have for every sneakerhead!

Kanye West knew with this model; the Yeezy 350 "Turtle Dove" to drive the sneaker world completely crazy. With every colorway that comes out, he manages to drive European, American and Asian sneakerheads crazy and there are queues in front of the stores.

You can't go wrong with buying an OG edition of a sneaker. Every brand and model has a true classic. When Reebok first released the Ventilator Supreme, this sneaker had comfort that had never before been experienced in a sports shoe. In the years that followed, rappers such as Cam'ron have reworked the sneaker for special editions and the retro sports shoe has entered the sneaker world.

Kanye West managed to turn the sneaker into a fashion item with his YEEZY line. While the sneaker was previously mainly seen as a sports shoe, he managed to make wearing sneakers fashionable by combining it with high-end fashion items. In his YEEZY line he uses simple colors with high-end matching clothing, the sneaker has been just as much a fashion item as a sneaker/sports shoe for a number of years now.

PUMA brought back the PUMA RS-X collection 2 years ago and did this through various collabs such as; a collaboration with Motorola, MTV, Ferrari. All nostalgic brands that were allowed to apply their view on the model. Since then, the RS-X has returned to the streets and is once again a classic that you should not miss in your sneaker closet.

You increasingly see fashion designers coming together with sneaker brands. This is the ultimate sign that sneakers have officially become runway proof. Adidas has been doing various clothing/sneaker collections with none other than Alexander Wang for some time now. This model received the platform treatment at the time.

After the success of the Nike Air Max 1/97 x Sean Wotherspoon, Nike also held a vote forward competition last year. This time not just 1 sneaker was selected, but sneakers were selected per city, which is how the Nike Air Max 1 "Tokyo Maze" was designed. A sneaker inspired by the streets of Tokyo, which can be quite a maze. This pair is ready to be beat at LowLands.

Nike always manages to surprise with the Air Max 1. Also with this release everyone was hyped about a certain part that Nike brought back; the crep sole. This sole does not have the pattern you are used to from the Air Max 1 sole. This one is completely smooth with a small texture over it. In addition, the swoosh received the "fluffy treatment" something that Nike had not done on the Air Max 1 for a long time and became known through the legendary Nike Air Max 1 x Parra "Cherry Wood".

The Nike Air Max 98 "Black Leopard" was introduced last year and is becoming a true classic. Nike has a rich history with the Leopard pattern and knows how to use it time and again in such a way that it is unique and an addition to the previous leopard releases. Its color makes it a perfect festival sneaker!

This edition of the Nike Air Max 1 has to be the classic of the past year. The colors inspired from a "Watermelon". A sneaker that the real Nike heads can't miss in their sneaker collection!

The Vans Old Skool is an old skool (It's in the name ;) sneaker that has been on the streets for years. The black version has dominated the skate/punk scene for years. This edition is a lot more striking with large flames on the upper.

You love it or hate it! The Nike Air More Uptempo is a basketball sneaker that is a real neckbreaker with its striking letters on the side. This version is also part of the "Wheat" collection, a Nike collection that we actually see every year, where all colourways take on a brown tint and the uppers are often made of high-end suede. A must have for every basketball sneaker collector.

10 years ago, when sneakers were not yet dominating the street scene, Nike already managed to drive sneakerheads crazy by releasing sneakers in special colourways and with special materials. These sneakers are often worth much more now than they were at the time because they are very unique for this time. The special thing about this Air Max 1 is the "Safari" pattern in a mint colourway. This has never been done this way again on the Air Max 1 model. This LowLands visitor actually has gold on his feet, but he shows that sneakers are there to shine and party! BEAT your HEAT!

Some sneaker pairs are even too high for us to wear to LowLands. This is certainly one of them, at 11 years old and in quite good condition, this pair is our BEATED HEAT winner. Respect to the sneakerhead who wears this at LowLands!

See you next year!
